The rule of the walk
Nothing ships unproofed
Every industrial length goes to the proof crane before it leaves the yard, loaded to a fifth over its working figure and held for the count of two hundred. If anything lets go, the rope is cut up for the retail shed and the order is laid again. The yard has never sold a rope that failed on the crane, and the ledger back to 1891 proves it.
